Q1. Does Phillip Futures provide e-trading platform?

PhillipCapital have our own trading platform, POEMS, which enables you to trade multiple products across multiple markets. Besides POEMS, Phillip Futures allow clients to trade via POEMS Professional that is also available on PC, and PTS/H-Trader that is available on Handheld (minimum requirement of PDA applied). And also there is specialized trading system available P-Trader.

Q2. Why do I see a difference in the figures shown in Teletext and Phillip Future’s trading platform?

A Phillip Futures, our price quotes are all live feed that updates within seconds, compare to Teletext, which is delayed price. Therefore, you will see a difference in prices. However, if you encounter an unusual price difference, please call our Marketing Desk at (65) 6538 0500.

Q3. What should I do if my PC/System is down?

If such cases happen, please do not hesitate to call our Dealing Desk at (65) 6531 1555 (Futures) or (65) 6536 7200 (SPOT FOREX/Gold) to execute your order. However, commission will be based on call-in rate.

Q4. Why is there a slight difference in the trading hours listed in the Phillip Futures contract information sheet from that listed by the Exchange?

Due to the extensive array of global futures markets products offered and the long trading hours, we need to perform essential system maintenance at the end of each trading day. As such, it is necessary for us to adjust the electronic trading hours to ensure that our system is always in good condition to service you better.

Q5. How can I place my working orders when the system is down for maintenance at 5.30am?

You can call our dealing desk (Tel: 65351155) to place orders between 5:30 to 6:00 am, which will then be placed with the overseas brokers.

Q6. Where can I get a demo account for the platform that I’m interested to use and how long is it valid?

You may email us at futures@phillip.com.sg to ask for a demo account on the platform that you are interested to use. Should you have any enquiries, please feel free to call our marketing desk at 65380500.

Q7. Is there a video demonstration on navigation of your platform?

POEMS Trading Platform

Q1. What can I trade via POEMS?

Electronically traded products from SGX, HKFE, CME, eCBOT, LIFFE, EUREX are available on POEMS. You may also trade SPOT FOREX/Gold and FX Invest (non-leverage FOREX trading) as well.

Q2. Do I need to download POEMS?

No. POEMS is made easily accessible with a PC and Internet connection by simply log on to www.poems.com.sg. There is no download hassle.

Q3. Will I be notified when orders submitted via POEMS are done?

Yes. Subscribe to our SMS/Email order alerts and enjoy the free services that would notify you of your done orders, which are submitted via POEMS.

Log on to POEMS > Futures or FOREX/Gold > Account > Acct Mgmt > Services Subscription.

Q4. Are the prices on POEMS live prices?

Yes. We provide real time live streaming prices on POEMS.

Q5. Will I be able to check my statements online?

Yes. We provide up to 2 months of past statement for viewing on POEMS.

Q6. Is charting available on POEMS?

Yes. POEMS charting and Metastock is available on POEMS.

Q7. Is Market Depth for Futures contracts available on POEMS?

Yes. Currently, POEMS offers 3 – 10 level of market depth depending on the various exchanges. Log on to POEMS > Futures > Live prices/Trading > Click on the “Product Name” to get market depth for the selected contracts.

Q8. Do I need to pay for POEMS?

No. POEMS is a free trading platform for the clients who open Futures account with Phillip Futures.

Q9. I wish to trade but how do I start on POEMS?

Yes. GTC and OCO are currently available for SPOT FOREX/Gold orders (Incorporated into order type).

Q11. How do I check if my orders have been done?

You may check from the Trading Page on the POEMS. Go to “Order Status” page and click on the “Update” button to refresh the order status page.

Q12. Will my access be removed if the account is dormant for a certain period?

POEMS users who has no trading activity for more than 6 months, will have their access to certain overseas Exchanges removed due to concerns arising from intellectual property for usage or dissemination of market data. Your POEMS platform login is not deactivated and you are still able to login to view SGX and FOREX prices, as well as perform the administrative functions on POEMS.

Q13. Is my account terminated and considered closed after my access to these overseas Exchanges have been removed?

No, your account is not terminated, and you are still our valued client.

You can still continue to login to POEMS to enjoy exclusive services such as FX Invest and to view your account summary etc. You can also view price quotes from SGX and FOREX, Loco London Gold and Silver live prices in POEMS.

You can also call our 24-hour Dealing desk to check on the prices of the different products in the various Exchanges or to place trades. Should you need to re-activate your POEMS login, please contact us to review your request.

POEMS Professional

Q1. Where can I download POEMS Professional?

To download POEMS Professional, you may visit our website.
Scroll to POEMS Professional Standalone Version. Select the one for Windows XP. Follow the instruction to install and run the program.

Q2. What are the specifications of PC required to run POEMS Professional?

The OS must be Window XP (Professional or Home Edition), minimum 256 RAM, and broadband connection.

Q3. Why are my positions different from my statements?

You need to log out from the system daily when it closes for maintenance at 5.15 am (DST) and 6.15 am (Non-DST) and re-login again at 6 am or 7 am respectively.

Q4. Why can’t I see my daily recaps in the reports tab?

You need to click on “Reports” button before the “Login” button when you are login in.

Q5. Why are my prices for trades done yesterday different?

The system takes in the previous settlement price as reference and any difference in P/L is adjusted in the cash buying power.

Q6. How do I see my available cash?

It is displayed on the "Position" tab as "Cash Buying Power Remaining". If you are still unable to see, right click on the "Title Bar" and click "Select Columns" and then select the respective heading that you need.

Q7. Why do I see an order status “Q”?

This happens when your PC connection is slow or dropped. Just exit out of the system and re-login and you should be able to see the correct status of that trade.

Q8. Why is the status not showing my actual fill price but average price?

The average price summarizes all the fills in a single consolidation. If you want to see the actual fill information, just double click on the “Order Detail” and you will get the price breakdown trade by trade.

Q9. Why are the trades, risk calculation, positions and cash different from what I should have?

You need to exit from the system and click on “Reports” or Reset” button before the “Login” button when you are logging in.

Q10. I am unable to log in and was given the message “unable to log in, password has expired.” Why is this so?

POEMS Professional will prompt client to change password every 3 months. To change your password, simply click on the ‘…’ at the password field. Enter your new password twice and continue to log in using your old password. New password will take effect after logging in. Please note that the new password must be alphanumeric and minimum 7 characters.

Q11. I have just top-up cash at your office. But my trades are being rejected when I tried to enter some trades. What should I do?

Please call to the Dealing Desk at (65) 6531 1555 (Futures) or (65) 6536 7200 (SPOT FOREX/Gold) to input the funds manually for you.

Q12. I am unable to place a trade from the reflector. Why is this so?

Please ensure that the lot size has been entered.

Q13. Does the profit and loss takes into account the GST and commission?

No. You still need to add 7% for the GST.

Q14. Do you support GTC orders on POEMS Professional?

GTC order is only available for CME and CME_CBOT products in Poems Professional.

Q15. Does all version of Poems Professional offer GTC order?

GTC order types will be available on version 7.5.3 and above. If you own a Poems Professional version lower than the mentioned, please upgrade it to the latest version 8.0.2.

Q16. What is the validation time of GTC order?

GTC order will be valid until you manually cancel its or when the contract expires (whichever earlier).

Q17. Is there any scenario where a GTC order will be cancelled or disabled?

GTC orders may be flushed out during exchange system outages or ad-hoc situation that may be specified by exchange.

Q18. Can I see my GTC order which is placed through the dealing desk from my own trading terminal (Poems Professional)?

Yes, you will be able to view the order in your Poems Professional trading platform.

Q19. Can I cancel a GTC order which is placed through the dealing desk in my own system?

Yes, since you can view the order from your Poems Professional trading platform, you can make any changes to this order. However, you are required to inform the dealing desk about any changes that are made to the order to prevent any dispute of trade.

Q20. Will I been notified when the GTC order is executed?

Yes, once the order is executed, you will be notified via a pop-up window through your Poems Professional trading platform.

Q21. Will my access be removed if the account is dormant for a certain period?

Poems Professional users who has no trading activity for more than 2 months, will have their login terminated. We will remove the access of the system due to concerns arising from intellectual property for usage or dissemination of market data.

Q22. Is my account be terminated and considered closed after my access to these overseas Exchanges are removed?

No, your account is not closed, and you are still our valued client.

You can continue to login to POEMS to enjoy exclusive services such as FX Invest, view your account summary, FOREX, Loco London Gold and Silver prices.

Technical Support (POEMS and POEMS Professional)

Q1. What are the minimum system requirements for trading POEMS?

Q2. Can POEMS be viewed on a Macintosh?

No. POEMS currently is not supported on Macintosh.

Q3. I can’t view my prices. It is showing “Loading data, please wait”

Restart your PC when installation has completed.

  • Go to Tools > Internet Option > Advanced. Look for Java (SUN).
  • Tick the option under Java (SUN). (If any)
  • Go to Tools > Internet Option > Temporary Internet Files > Delete Files > Check Delete Offline Content > OK.
  • Close your Browser and try again.

Q4. I can’t log on to POEMS. It is Invalid Password.

Password is case sensitive. Please kindly check the password entry again.
If you are still experiencing login problem, please our Marketing Desk at (65) 6538 0500.

Q5. I can’t view POEMS Charting. Timeout Occurred.

  • Open your internet Explorer Browser
  • Click on “Tools”
  • In “Internet Options”, click on “Privacy”
  • If the setting is “Custom”, click on the “Default Level” button
  • If the setting is “Medium”, shift the slider down to “Low”
  • Click on “Apply”
  • Try again

Q6. There are no price quotes on my POEMS.

You have not added the contracts into the price list. Click on Add/Delete Contracts to add the contracts into the price list for viewing.

P-Trader

Q1. What is P-Trader?

P-Trader is a powerful trading platform by Phillip Futures with integrated features like interactive real time charts, customized trading signals/opportunities and multiple price alerts. You may download P-Trader from our website.

Q2. What is the basic requirement to apply for P-Trader?

You may fill up the P-Trader application form and submit to us.

You can obtain the form from our Marketing Desk or download it from our website (applicable for both POEMS and Poems Professional Users).

The charge is S$108/month. The fee will be charged upfront. Phillip Futures will charge the subscription fee for P-Trader base on 3 months subscription.

Users who would like to continue their subscription on P-Trader must be complemented with trading volume in their account during the subscription period.

Q3. What are the advantages of P-Trader?

Any access of P-Trader which is inactive (no trading activity) during the 3 months subscription period will not be entitled to renew for the next subscription. The access to P-trader will only be valid until end of the current subscription period.

PTS (Phillip Trading System)

Q1. What is PTS (Phillip’s Mobile Trading System)?

PTS is Phillip Futures’ mobile Trading System that uses handheld (H-Trader) on your PDA with Windows Mobile operating system. This platform complements the existing desktop based POEMS Professional to manage your order book. PTS is the first and the only mobile trading system in Singapore which allows trading of Futures and Options via PDA.

Q2. What are the required handheld specifications in order to use PTS?

You need to have a PDA on Windows CE environment and a connection to Internet.

Q3. How do I connect to Internet on my handheld PDA?

In Singapore, you may connect via your Internet Service Provider such as M1, Singtel, Starhub with their respective GPRS or 3G plan. Alternatively you can also connect via wireless access points at selected cafes, restaurants, shopping centres such as Starbucks, Macdonald’s or Funan IT mall or even via our nation-wide Wireless@SG. For overseas clients, as long as you can connect/surf the Internet on your mobile to our website you can download and trade our PTS.

Q4. How do I get/apply for PTS?

You may fill up the PTS application form and submit to us. To get the form, please get from our Marketing Desk or download from our website.

The charge is S$100/month paid upfront. If you trade more than 50 lots per month through the PTS system or POEMS Professional, you will be entitled to a full rebate end of the month.

M-Trader

Introduction

Q1. What is M-Trader?

It is a mobile application for viewing live price quotes, trading and reviewing the status of orders that have been submitted while you are out of office or on the move using a mobile handset.

Q2. What products does M-Trader offer?

Currently, we offer Regular Forex (100K) contracts. In future, we have intentions to provide Mini Forex (10K) and Futures contracts.

Eligibility

Q3. Am I eligible to sign up for M-Trader?

You are required to have a POEMS Futures.FX account in order to be eligible.

Mobile Handsets Compatibility

Q4. Which mobile handsets are supported?

M-Trader is a Java J2ME application meant for mobile handsets. It supports most mobile handsets which allow installation and execution of Java J2ME applications:
Minimum mobile phone requirements:

  • J2ME profile: MIDP 2.0, CLDC 1.1
  • Screen display resolution: 176 x 208 pixels and above

Data Connections & Charges

Q6. Does M-Trader require any data connection?

Yes, in order to login and access to M-Trader live price quotes and trading features, your mobile handset will require connection to the internet. Do check if your mobile handset supports any of the following connection:

  • GPRS
  • 3G / 3.5G
  • WLAN / WIFI

Q7. My mobile handset supports GPRS, 3G or 3.5G. If I intend to use M-Trader, what should I do next?

On top of your current mobile voice plan, you should consider purchasing an add-on data plan with your telco (SingTel, StarHub, M1). You can also consider changing your mobile voice plan to one that comes with free bundled data.

If not, you will be on the basic pay-as-you-use data plan which might result in substantial mobile bill cost if M-Trader is used frequently. Please consult your telco on the available choice of plans.

Q8. My mobile handset supports WIFI connection. Can I connect to the various Wireless@SG, home wireless internet hotspots to access M-Trader?

Yes, you can make use of the free wireless internet hotspots that are available. Alternatively, you can connect to your home wireless internet setup as well.

Overseas Roaming & Charges

Q9. I am overseas and my mobile handset is on roaming. If I use M-Trader, will I incur additional data charges from my telco?

Yes, you will be subjected to data roaming charges. It will be substantial as you will be charged based on roaming pay-as-you-use rates. Even if you have free unutilised bundled data in your mobile plan, the data is meant for local usage in Singapore only.

When you are overseas and need to use M-Trader, it is advised to check and use any free wireless internet hotspots that might be available in the vicinity (ie. hotels, shopping malls etc). This is provided that your mobile handset supports WIFI connectivity.
